No, I didn't get a new car...

I just like how that one looks plus it is clean. I did however order some new tires and maybe someday they will arrive. Posted by Picasa

Bikes and Beers ride

The Path (the best bike shop in OC) is having there annual Bikes and Beers ride this Sunday! The ride normally sees 150 to 200 riders. It's an offroad/ urban ride and ends at the Tustin brewery for pizza and beers. The ride "starts" at 8:30 but doesn't really roll out until 9:30 or so.

I am planning on making it this year, pink camo and all.

Let me kow if you want to go, we can carpool.

I am starting to remember why I don't go to bars anymore....

There is always one guy that doesn't have a sense of humor and another that does. Say for instance you are watching four guys play pool. You are there with a bunch of friends. Everyone is paired up except for you. One of the guys playing steps up to you and says "you know someone might thinking that you are gay". You say thanks but, you are the one with the guy and have the "Gay" look. Funny thing is that he doesn't laugh it off like I did...I mean you did. In fact he made a point to call his so called "girlfriend". Anybody can call a random girl on the phone, that doesn't make her your girlfriend....tool. Insecurity is the root of all evil. Ironically I was wering my Evil t-shirt. I guess the asshole couldn't read.

I hate bars. I'm not drinking for awhile....now where did I put my beer? Needless to say I narrowly got myself beat down tonight. I know I can be an asshole once and awhile but, I am trying to change....yeah right.

In the stand right now:
SB's Turner burner

On iTunes:
G. Love and the Special Sauce "Soda Pop"

Socks:
Retrotec Wools

Bike count:
13 (3 in the bedroom, 5 in the living room and 5 in the kitchen)
Sea Otter reviews;

Energy drinks
+Full Thottle "Fury"

I immediately had a starnge feeling about this flavor. I thought I knew what it tasted like so I let 007 try it to confirm or deny my thoughts. Yep, he also thought it tasted like Taco Salad, witha slight sweet aftertaste. Not good.

+Rockstar Juiced

This is the best tasting of the three tested during my 6 hour drive home after working the expo. Kinda Redbullish, kinda fruity and a little like a fruit smoothie. Excellent! I will but this one again.

+Redline

Run, do not walk away when you see this hell in a can. To quote my man Steve "This was made by, for and with assholes". Yuck! It tasted a little like watery Pepto (in fact it was the same color. I started getting the shivers, the back of my neck was on fire and I was twitchy. I recently found out that it was a "fat eliminator", hell I need that! What I don't needs is the side effects. No thanks.

Sea Otter:

What can you say that hasn't already been said? Rain? Yep SRAM Force road group? Yep Niner full suspension? Yep Orbea carbon 29er? Yep......etc.

What they can't talk about the backstage drama;

HR was out of control this past weekend. What I hadn't realized was that Sea Otter was a "No Fun Zone". Luckily Moses was with 007 and I, we had a blast! Moses is one funny mother-f-er. Not only did we make fun of every dweeb at the race we laughed at our own workers. Some people take things too serious. I could understand if our company was big (30 workers or more) but, we are just a small player in the world at 7 employees. We aren't changing the world here.

Well enough of the politics, here is what I was able to see in my short bursts of freedom during the weekend.

+Haro Mary 29er: I want one! The frames are made of steel, they come in SS and geared and are relatively low priced.

+Intense Spider 29er: Unfortunately I wasn't able to ride one but, the proto I was able to up close was spectacular! A 4" full suspension 29er? I'm in...if I needed another MTB that is.

+Kish: Kish was next to my favorite bike builder (guess who). Kish has several steel bikes at the show including a Javaboyish bike. Excellent welding and geat attention to detail.

+Niner: Niner was showing off their new full suspension frame. Gusseted top and down tubes, sweet BB linkage, light weighta and I am sure the price will be right. If the price is right, I may be breaking the streak and getting a Niner SS.

+Industry Nine: These wheels rock! The spokes are similar to the "M" words aluminium spokes. The hubs are King quality and you can pick what ever rim you want. The spokes and hubs are available in a large range of colors (some colors are extra $). I would be on the I9 wagon if I didn't prefer wheels by my own hands.

More later....including dinner stories, drinking stories...etc.

Number 4...The same parts from my LTS went on this frame. I even had SPIN carbon wheels for this thing. I also was running a Specialized Carbon FSX fork. It was a RockShox Judy SL with Carbon legs. Posted by Picasa

Number 3...My LTS was a team model and had full XTR (of course). Posted by Picasa

Man, PBS is looking like a tornado victim. I have got to get this place cleaned up. Imagine a bike shop, a junkyard and a closet that just threw up. Yep that would be the correct analogy.

3-18 Review:

CROCS Cayman Sandal
Retail $29.99

First off, I know they look odd. I wanted something to wear after a long ride, chores outdoors, lazy Sunday's, etc.

My dad bought me a gift card to a local "Recreational Equipment" company. I had been looking for some slipons for awhile and noticed they offered CROCS. I received them Friday. Today, after the race, I wore them to wash my car, go to the grocery and walk around. They really are comfortable! They have more arch support than I was expecting.

The Cayman is meant to be alittle larger than your normal size. My foot seems like it is swimming in the shoe when I am sitting but, they are perfect when walking. They have a strap on the back that can be used or pushed to the front. So far so good!

I will be wearing them in more situations this week and report any and all reviews. Posted by Picasa
In the mix:

Tunes: Citizen Cope "D'Artagnan's Theme"
View: "Trick my Truck", CMT
Socks: Crew Crown

Longtime no hear....

Hmmm.... where to begin....

It's been really hectic around here lately plus, I haven't been around here lately. In summary form;

*Worked a Golf Expo for SockGuy last weekend (it was empty, the only good thing was I got a massage from CMC each day I worked). Cassidy's did the right thing and brought some lovely ladies....
*SG had a little get together for my birthday at PizzaPort
*Karen had a shindig at her house on Sunday.
*I stayed at the DeBoer casa (watching Elvis) while they were in Mexico.
*Two tune-ups this week.
*Appointment with Tax Guy (Ugh...Cost more than I thought it would but, I am glad they are done.)
*Worked the California Half Ironman this morning, fifth year in a row (4 tech support, 1 sag support).

Well, that's about it. I have two tuneups that I need to start tomorrow that are due this week, Two to pick up and one to deliver.

Busy, to say the least. That is a good thing... the bank account is looking bleak.

Until then...

There are too many cool things in this picture! To name a few; The Sweet Ti cantilevers, carbon fenders, Ti rack.... Posted by Picasa
Tech Tip #1

Have a mountain bike ride planned where there are lots of cacti? If you can't find sealant filled tubes I have an easy solution.

Find a suitable tube, preferable a new one that fits your size wheel. Buy a tube of sealant and a patch kit(there are several brands out there; Slime, Tru Goo, etc.). Poke a hole in the undeside of the tube (the side that will be on the rim not the tire). Insert the nozzle of the sealant container and fill the tube with the amount as directed by the manufacturer. Thoroughly clean the out side where you poked the hole and patch.

Unortunately you cannot buy pre-Sealed 29er tubes, so for the race I made some. Not only did I not have any flats during the race, I am still using the tubes and they are working perfectly!

Happy trails!
I think next time I ride Daley Ranch I might have to use the Subaru....

The place is completely sanitized! The ride was fun don't get me wrong but, the trails have changed for the worse.

I got my Ti riser bars in on Friday and installed them when I got home. They have a little more sweep than the raceface bars but, the work awesome plus they look killer.

Huh, one link on Drunkcyclist and my blog gets 400 hits...

I sent Big Jonny some links to photo's of Old Pueblo and mentioned I was the big Pink camo guy. I guess he took it upon himself to show everyone else my outfit, thanks really....

My fat self is on the SockGuy gallery as well, gee thanks.

The hopper is full this week. I have a three tuneups (one finished), two bike builds, two wheel builds and a component swap. Life is good!

The Gunnar is almost complete. I would say this weekend it will be ready for some pictures. Then I will have to figure out how to deliver it (Long Beach is pretty far out of my way).

Still working on the position...but, the ride is spectacular! Posted by Picasa
With rides like that I wonder if I will ever ride 26" ever again....

Needless to say today's MTB ride was superb! Pretty large group (Cinnamon Star, Fat Tim, Geri and No show), relatively fast pace and I climbed everything!

My 29er seems to climb better, roll rocks better and ruts are a thing of the past.

Wow!

I'm back!

Well, going into the race my goal was 5 laps. After all of us did our first lap I knew 5 was a little high. Let preface the situation; Our Team Captain resigned from our team to race with "The cool guys". So another rider who lost his team volunteered to join our team, only to find out at the race that he was racing on a two man as well. I am pretty sure he only did one lap for us. Our first rider "SB"* rode a 1:50 lap(including the run), the second rider "SDS" rode a 1:20, third "GY" 1:28, "ER" brought home a 1:15 and "SW" rode a 1:26.

*SB= Sarah Breyer
SDS= Steve Bacce
GY= Me
ER= Ed Radcliffe
SW= Steve Worley

The second laps were as follows;

SDS 3:00ish (2 flats), SW 1:45, GY 1:55, SB 2:00ish, SW 1:30ish and the last lap was a blistering GY with a 1:30. Unfortunately we didn't have anyone that wanted to go out again so I waited out on the trail until noon, so my time shows 2:02.

I was flying on my first lap. I felt awesome, the bike handled great and no mechanicals. I beat last years lap by over 20 minutes! My second lap was ugly. 1:30 in the morning is not my kind of fun but, I got up and pressed on. I am just glad it was under 2:00. I really wanted the last lap. There wasn't any pressure to get back before noon, I could cruise or work it. i rode really hard in the begininng and decided to slow down and have some fun, keep it smooth. This bike rails. In the middle of my lap I caught up to Roger L. from the Sycip Team, he was racing Solo SS. We talked for a few minutes then I let him go. We kept in contact though, he was spent from all the spinning on the course (that's the only way I could have kept up with him). Towards the end of the lap, a bunch of us stopped and waited for noon. I needed some shade so I cruised a little further. As I passed the solo pits, Dejay stopped me and passed me a beer. Mmmmm good timing. He was racing on team and sharing pit with the DC crew. Fat Tire on Tap, nice. I was in full "Watermelon"* so I was easy to pick out and I got several nicknames during the race.

* Full Watermelon= SockGuy Green camo bibs, armwarmers and Pink camo jersey.

I had a blast! I am really proud of my 3 laps. That is one of the best 24hour races around, Thanks Todd S.

Congrat's go out to my Team, we didn't need Jensy-pooh after all.

The drive home was ruthless...Both my passengers fell asleep and were out cold for 85% of the trip, thanks. Jensy would wake up long enough to poke me with his finger and ask me if I was awake then he would fall back to sleep, @sshole.

Race product review:

I tried several "Energy drinks" on the trip home. Some had good flavor, good source of energy, etc.

Full Throttle: Taste- Fruity Red Bull, Energy- iffy
Amp: Taste- Mountain Dew with Guarana, Energy- superb
RockStar Double caffiene: Taste- Red bullish, Energy- better than FT
Sugarfree Red Bull: Taste- Blah, This should only be consumed with Vodka.
Starbucks Frap: Taste- Not as good as the real thing and too much fat.

So that it for now. I am going to ride the 29er urban style this afternoon.

So you on the trail,

G

Man blogger has been freaking out lately....
I tried seven times last night to post but, no dice.

Old Pueblo is this weekend...yay. The "F"ing german backed out of racing with "his" team. He is the captain of the team, the got to guy, the registar, the one that got us together to ride..."Hey guys let's get a team together for a fun trip, I don't really want to race hard just get a few laps..." I call Bullshit. Plus the team he is going to ride for is going for the gold. Granted they are the "Brokeback Mountain Boys" and he goes for that sort of thing, just ask him about JK. Let's see I could be a dirty slut or a Gay Cowboy hmmm that's a hard decision. fucker.

Well either way I am going for five laps. I don't know how many of those will be in the wee hours of the morning but, never the less.

bike is ready, I on the other hand am not.

Went for a SS road ride this morning. Man I love that bike! Sure it's a bitch climbing but, it's a great workout. The Chicken Sympathizer, Stubby and Vanilla also rode. CS rode his Kelly 29er with cyclocross tires, while Vanilla and stubby were on their gearies.

I placed an order with UBI for my dropouts. I am really glad I found out about this issue now rather than during the race in the middle of the desert. The bike is begging to be ridden and it will be.....soon.

Next weekend will be all MTB rides. Check your mailboxes (if you are on my list) late this week for my ride schedule.

The good, the bad and the pinky....

It's here! The first ride went smoothly until my replaceable dropout sheared off. Shitballs! I removed the broken piece and noticed it was contaminated, probably a bad batch. I will order some replacements on Monday and post some pics.

Old Pueblo is rolling in fast....

Am I ready? Am I ever?

Current plan is to get as many miles under my belt before the race. My goal is 5-6 laps, having a five person team, that might not be feaseable. I'll do my best.

Selle San Marco Gus R:

Well, the first ride on the saddle is in the books. I had installed the saddle on my hardtail SS, what better way to test a saddle....

First off, The saddle is an inch and a half wider than my normal saddle. The saddle is also quite a bit flatter than my usual. It looks good though, a little too much like a DH trimmed down but very sleek.

While I do have a large posterior (aka Budunkadunk), the saddle is not the shape or size for me. The saddle had enough cushion but, the shape (very edgy) felt odd. There is also a seam for the different material on one side.

More review later....

What can I say, it's been a weird week so far.

On a positive note, I have more work than I know what to do with. That's how I deal with problems in my life. I drown them with work. It's not health but, it works for me. A very close friend of mine is throwing a birthday party for herself this weekend, that will be good for me.

Roxanna Fitzgerald Cogswell
(Jan 28th, 1925- Jan 13th, 2005)

My grandmother died last night. When my mom called this morning I knew something was wrong.

In fact even though the COD was a heart attack, I think my grandmother knew when it was going to happen.....

I received a thank you card from her last week. Don't get me wrong she always talked about how old she was but, we never took her seriously. In the card she mentioned how "at least she saw Christmas". She didn't see her birthday though....

I believe there is a silver lining to everything. The silver lining to this is that my Mom and grandmother were talking to each other. They had an argument over twenty years ago that tore them apart but, in the last year or so they patched things up. I am happy for that. I know my Mom is sad right now but, she would be really upset if they were still arguing.

Goodbye Grandma....

Tuesday, January 10, 2006

I almost forgot. I am starting up a product review feature on this blog. Of course I will be reviewing the new bike and parts but, I will also be accepting products for review.

This week I received a saddle from a friend at Velimpex (the importer for Selle San Marco). The saddle is a Selle San Marco Gus R. The Gus is a DH saddle but the Gus R is Selle's XC edition. I have installed the saddle on my rigid SS for the test.

At first glance, you immediately notice the flatness of the saddle. The top of the saddle has definite ridges on the sides including a seam on one side. There is also a strange Titanium plate at the back of the saddle.

For some reason Blogger isn't allowing me to upload photo's but, I will when I can.

Review soon....
Finished another bike today! This one being for free but, I'll chalk it up to marketing. Tomorrow seems to be the only day I have free. Thursday is booked. Friday I am working the Carlsbad Marathon expo/ Birthday party for DW "The Card Shark". Saturday I am thinking Hodges since I am working the expo in the afternoon. Sunday........

Pinky's Rear derailleur, shifters, cassette and grips came in today. I am still waiting on the fork (coming from Maverick American), the brakes (I ordered them through B&L), saddle (Vanilla hasn't placed order yet) and most importantly the frame. To quote my boss "God Damn, God Damn!". Anybody need some work done on their bike or some new parts? I am going to have to ramp up business to pay for this beast.

Word to the wise.....

When you realize there is something wrong with your bike, fix it now!

Last week I rode my bike afterwork nothing hard, just a spin. Towards the end of the ride I was suffering up a hill and my chain came off. I looked down and the masterlink (It's a Mavic 10 chain) had come apart. I quickly inspected the link and it was pretty worn, not good. I snapped the chain back together and said to myself "I need to pickup a chain at the shop". I didn't and forgot about it. I guess that's one of the drawbacks to being a mechanic, your bike is always the last to be repaired.

Today I left for a much needed ride with some friends, not thinking about the link. About 20 minutes into the ride, just after a short climb the chain falls off completely. When I say completely I mean it. Low and behold half of the masterlink is gone! By the time I realized I was screwed, I called the front group and they were miles ahead. Fat Tim helped me look for the link for awhile but, I realized it was a lost cause. Atleast I was wearing my camo so everyone that passed by pointed and laughed. Good times.....

I am really angry at myself right now. I have decided to scrap the riding for today and clean up the casa.

Whew! Just finished a gem of a bike build. It's one thing to build new bikes. It's a completely different beast when some of the parts are old some new, most are greasey, grimy and some are missing parts. Not fun....

Well it's done so now I can look forward to the weekend. Poker night tomorrow, Road ride on Saturday and hopefully a MTB ride on Sunday.

Hope to see you this weekend.
Some more of the parts are on the way for pinky. I have even acquired a seatpost for it finally.

Happy F'n New Year......'06 looks to be prosperous year here at PBS.

The casa is still a mess, the wheels are done and my parts for Pinky are starting to roll in. SG is gign to be rocking tomorrow. We have been closed for a week and the orders are aplenty. I will get them all out.....maybe.

Big Jonny over at DrunkCyclist has his store up and running. Checkout his new socks, T's and jersey's. I have had the socks since Interbike. They are tall boy's and look like old Basketball socks. Very pimp.

Link dump:
Portland Cyclewear: I finally followed up to one of my Interbike brochures. They make Custom Wool jersey's. I ordered one to see how it looks. If it comes out well I may offer them on the site.
Maverick American: I ordered an SC32 29er fork for my Pinky project. I can't wait to checkout this fork.
Fizik: Fizik just updated their website. They are offering more custom colors and offer more saddles in the custom program. Yep, you guessed it! I have one on order for Pinky.
Chris King 24mm: You can't have a SC32 without one of these. You can't have bling without King. To top it off it might as well be pink.

Busy weekend ahead....

I am meeting a client at the shop for some bike test rides. I need to build 4 wheels by Saturday night and I have to total up my Inventory numbers for SockGuy. My bicycle does not look to be in the cards this weekend.

Yikes! Something on my couch just moved....I think it is the neighbors cat but, I am not sure. PBS needs some cleaning. I haven't seen the floor in a week. I guess that is what happens when you are busy.

Have a happy holiday?

I rode the snot out of my bikes this past weekend. Went for an early morning cruise with the B&L clan Saturday, Sunday I rode Hodges (North and South) with The Chicken Sympathizer, Shaggy and Scooby. Monday the CS and I rode Goodan Ranch. Only one mishap and that was because I was pushing myself beyond my limit. I rode the Pave Tuesday and Wednesday alone.

This week is inventory time at SG (SockGuy for the newbies). We definitely do not need anymore Pink Flames or Low Cut Turtles.

PBS has a couple projects in the hopper;

1. The Super Unleaded is coming along.
2. LBT's Gunnar should be in soon and the first installment of his parts will be here on Monday.
3. I have a couple sets of wheels to build by Saturday. Fun, fun.....I'm serious.

Anybody have ride plans?

Turkey day, Turkey Day....

I am off to Daley Ranch for a T-Day ride then it's up to Redlands for the FFF (Fluffy Family Feast). Rumor has it that the 'stache will be there including the entire Breyer family collective. Good Times...

We shipped out a shite load of socks today, over 30 boxes. Nice.

The question is camo or sycip?

This week is my first full week at SG, even though it's a short week. The transition has been rough, stressful and exciting all at the same time. SG has been very supportive through it all.

I am very excited to settle down and get situated at work. I am still in newby mode running around, not 100% comfortable with all the processes. Ryan says he'll give me another week to get comfortable, Gee thanks....

The Holiday socks are in! We only ordered ten dozen of each style so they are very Limited Editions. We have the Reindeer sock in white, the Santa sock in green and my favorite the "HO" sock in red. Call your local dealer to order yours!

For some reason I woke up this morning and drove to OC today. Is it Saturday? No one is around. Warren G isn't even here yet...

Oh well, guess I'll catch up on some BS still here....

I've started work on some Pro Bike Support merchandise (Custom baselayers with my logo and socks), SockGuy go figure.

I have started specing the new ride (although I haven't even ordered the frame yet). NO SHIMANO!

Etc.

It will definately be a great addition to the stable.

This is my first (sortof) week at SG. I have printed up enough custom baselayers for a lifetime... Beep, beep, beep....

So far so good. The guys are great to work with, the atmosphere is perfect for my sense of humor. Plus we all ride in to work so we have that in common.

We have some killer socks this year plus, look out for the "Holiday" socks on the way.

I am looking forward to saturday night. The whole gang of Fonzies Devils are getting together at stubbies. Unfortunately I have to work at C5 in the morning to train, so no ride for me. It's going to be a couple weird weeks for my transition.

Gots to git back to work,

I smell new bike.....

Next week is the first week of my new job at SockGuy. I am excited beyond belief. I worked last Friday but, working one day doesn't do it justice. The guys have good senses of humor, I think I will fit in fine. We got along pretty well last Friday. I am working tomorrow as well. I can't wait to ride in. No traffic, no gas prices and no road rage.....

Is everybody going to the Swap Meet? SD Velodrome Sunday be there.

Cinnamon Star and I are riding our SS road bikes Saturday. I bought a new accessory for the Javaboy. Next time you see Java look for the newness....

That's the way it is.

This past weekend flew by.

We MTB'd on Saturday, I rode the Double Dribble again. I need to get my will back so that I can start riding the Diesel again, maybe this weekend....

I worked Tech Support for the CAF San Diego Triathalon Challenge on Sunday. Basically I drove around in circles along the course helping people with flat fixes and other basic repairs. I really enjoy it, it's a good group of peep's. I have ridden basically that same coursea hundred times and I can't imagine having the strength and will power to battle up those climbs in a handcycle. After my last loop I headed back to the expo area and hungout with the SockGuy's (and Gal) as well as my serrogate mom KS. We sold some socks and helped teardown the booth. Good times.

I was eager to get back to the shop, unload my car and head home to eat my rabbit food but, I was talked into drinking a few pitchers instead. Hey at least I forced down some chicken tenders, I can't believe they are fat free!

I am back at work this week. Got to go.....

Talk to you soon,

G

Busy weekend.

Friday road ride, 2.5 hours 15 avg. Then I built three wheels for clients, whew. Went out with the shop people and some crashers. Stayed out late. Returned home realizing I had three repairs due in the morning. Time 2:30. One complete frame up build, one SS road build including wheels and a tweak on an MTB. Hit the sheets at 4:45. Woke up around one, didn't hesitate to call Ice-cube the...Getting a little loopy (Ice-Cube flashbacks). Wokeup at 7:oo drank a liter of Gatorade "Lemonade" flavor. Rode with the guys at 8:30. After the ride I finished building Stubby's cross bike. Dinner with some friends, Now we are current.

Tomorrow is the Verdugo Racing Cyclocross race in Glendale. Race results will up later tomrrow night.

Wave goodbye!

Ride Schedule for this weekend is up on the website. Too much work...too little time...

Sunday is the Verdugo Cyclocross in Glendale, maybe Stubby and Vanilla will have bikes by then.....

Quote for the week:

It's quite fitting considering the season....

From Big Johnny (DrunkCyclist):

"Yeah, I've got a cyclocross bike. I ride it to work. I ride it to the bar. I almost never carry it over anything. And, when I do, I most certainly do not run.

Only run when being chased, thank you very much."

So, I guess last weekends Cross race made a big impression on a few of us. Vanilla and Stubby have both ordered cross bikes to finish out the season. Good luck boys!

Man is it cold here in the warehouse....Brrrrrr. Brass nipples is right....

Bikes are a plenty in G's casa, Friday's ride is looking bleak. Saturday is looking better for a longish ride. Maybe take the Javaboy out for a cruise, we'll see. A nipple driver is the tool for this weekend, I need to build atleast four wheels (two by Saturday night).

Huge turnout at the cross race today! Ran into a few people I haven't seen in awhile. Saw some amazing bikes;

  • John formerly from SanFran on a beautiful SyCip Crossdresser.
  • Lots of Redline's, Salsa's and Kelly's.
  • A Haro Cross (vintage 1995) ridden by Mike V.
  • A couple Ridley's, Empella's and Specialized's.
  • Etc.
All in all a great time!

Report on Friends of PbS Blog
Men's C (Beginner/ General)
Vanilla, DE and The Kaiser got top ten.
Stubby not so much...

Women's BSG got top five

Men's B
Fluffy got fifteenth-ish, Jefro?

Women's A
Monique S. beat Dorothy W. on the last straight.

Men's A
Chicken-Sympathizer got sixth-ish. Despite riding a fixed gear, having a mechanical on course (how can a fixed gear have a mechanical? Front brake cable) and riding the rest of the race on Fluffy's geared Kelly, he rode an excellent race. CDaggs (SockGuy) DNF'd because of his faulty $120 tire, JRA.

Congrat's go out to everyone who raced! I hope I can make it to the next race this weekend.

Now that's what road riding should be, No attacks, sprints or knarly climbs (for right now anyway).

Stubby and Vanilla ended up riding with 808 through Rancho. I was surprised to hear Stubby woke up before 8 but, I guess he didn't want to ride alone. S, V and I ate at Smokin' Joeys for lunch (goodeatsusa.com/Joey-BBQ.html). Not as good as Mister Hogg's but that place is stil closed.

Vanilla and I dropped by SockGuy to pick up an order for B&L. We walk in, V introduces me to Derrick (sp?) and he says "from the blog?". How ironic, one of the guys there was surfing the i and found my blog about SockGuy at Interbike. Small world.

Picked up some new socks for CS, Fluffy and I. I also ordered some "Limited edition" kit, pictures when it comes in. Scored some limited socks. I really like socks....Why? Is it because of devil's hoof? Probably...(if your have to ask you probably don't want to know.) Kudo's go out to SockGuy's. I need to work on my custom sock order. (www.sockguy.com)

My logo is close to finished. Then it's crunch time on the t-shirts. I will be selling them here when they come in as well as other goodies.

The picture of the day is of a trail I have ridden a thousand times. Just outside Westpoint, KY. Otter Creek.

The beginning of my Pseudo weekend....

I am excited, almost giddy, to ride tomorrow. The new beginning. I am tweaking the Pave tonight, to make sure the experience is top notch. Wish me luck!

Vanilla will be riding with The B&L crew tomorrow. I hope to get a good ride report from him tomorrow afternoon. Stubby's ride is unknown, I am sure someone knows what he will be doing but, I amnot privy to that info.

Looks like this weekend will be packed with two wheels. Saturday we are riding Goodan Ranch. Sunday I am working at the Reebok Womens Triathlon until 9ish, then I am going out to Vista to watch the Celo-Pacific Cyclocross race. Fluffy and The Chicken-Sympathizer are racing as well as couple more delinquents. I will post the results after the race. This is Goodan Ranch for reference (picture courtesy of www.mountainbikebill.com)

Work for this weekend:
1. Work on RK's Bianchi SS project bike
2. Finish Geri's FSR pivot overhaul and replacement
3. Figure out what is up with No Show's road bike
4. Overhaul the Marzocchi Marathon
5. Start building "Project Hot".

This is my Diesel. It's looking pretty weathered right now. I think it is time for a new Powdercoat and a disc upgrade. I have decided on slotted dropouts for the disc's but, I haven't nailed down the color....

Maybe this color?

Or this? (Split pea)

Hmmm... (Curry)

Decisions, decisions.

I can't wait for my ride on Friday! I haven't been able to say that in a very long time. Plus, Cinnamon Star is planning to ride Goodan with me on Saturday. I like that place, it might not have enough climbs for everyone but, it's fast and fun. The ride on Sunday is unknown at this point, I am sure something will happen.

Change is good...

Riding the Double Dribble this week has renewed my love of MTBing.

The bike is really well balanced. We rode a trail that I have been strictly SSing lately. There is something to be said about Suspension and Gears. I had a blast! Jumping the little bumps, bunny-hopping over obstacles and making some little inclines that I usually walk. I am definitely riding the DD next weekend... Probably by myself but, I will be riding.

My goal for the road bike is long and slow. No more 2 hour fast rides, They just don't it for me. Early morning start times, 15-17 avg speed and a low heart rate sounds good to me. I will leave the 2 hour fast paced rides to the "Training for nothing crew" (You know who you are). I may ride one of the those rides every once and awhile but, not every weekend like in the past.

Dropped from the start...

Found this photo and I had to post it. Stubby calls it "Shag carpeting", I call it "Bass Boat Orange". Either way it looks fantastic in person. Jay mentioned (Jay SyCip) that it was "Wet" paint not their normal Powdercoat so it might not last as long but, the finish is awesome. I am getting the itch for another frame and an update for my Diesel. I want to get sliding dropouts on my Diesel so I can run disc's. I guess I should start saving....

That's it for now!
6 in the dash.....

1. Floating Men "Bootleg Snack's Vol. 1", (www.floatingmen.com)
2. Mike Doughty "Haughty Melodic", (www.mikedoughty.com)
3. Kanye West "College Dropout", (www.kanyewest.com)
4. Lynyrd Skynyrd "25th Anniversary album Disc 2" (www.lynyrdskynyrd.com)
5. Mike Doughty "Skittish"
6. Modest Mouse "This is a long drive for someone with nothing to think about.", (www.modestmouse.com)

I leaving for my ride right now. I have to go pick up my pick, it's a long boring story. I am hoping I will feel alright today, I have a little cough. It will be Vanilla, stubby, Geri and I today unless others show up. Which means it will be me riding by myself....

I am looking forward to riding the MTB tomorrow.

As Juan Grande would say...."Rock out with your cock out...."

Woohoo.... No more C5 until Monday!

I might sound bitter but,....wait I am. It's been five long years at this job and it is slow begininng to fizzle. Granted I have a lot of freedom here but, I really want to work for myself. Soon.....

ProBikeSupport.com is inching closer to 1000 hits! I don't really know what I expected that site to be but, I am using it for content and reference info. I will be selling T-shirts soon and possibly stickers but, I am sure it will show it's use soon.

I found this photo, of my favorite SyCip at the show, on www.mtbr.com. It's a custom Javaboy with a gas engine ala Schwinn Whizzer. Note the gas tack under the top tube, Spectacular!

I think I am breaking out the SyCip Double Dribble for Saturday's ride. I haven't ridden it much lately and the bike really needs some luvin'....

Until then....

Mid-week already?

Huh...

I've planned the rides for this weekend, The email will be sent out soon. I really hope I start enjoying riding again soon. I think I am going to start riding my pace instead of trying to keep up with everyone else. We'll see if that works.... I am going to ride the SyCip on Sunday (Oh wait I have four SyCip's), the Javaboy. Riding that bike always makes me happy.

Javaboy looks a little different now but, you get the idea.

Business update; working on some of the paperwork needed for the state. I have been working on a few bike sales plus I have scheduled some repairs for this weekend. If you know of anyone needing bike work let me know.

Talk to you soon,

Back from Interbike!

Well...I can't say it was too much different than last year. Lots of carbon, lots of road bikes, lots of scantily clad women, lots of freaking looking shop rats. People watching is definitely a bonus at the show. Here are my highlights in abbreviated form;

Best booth:
Ultimate Support (www.ultimatesupport.com), Ultimate had some very bling 29er bikes including two Jones', Retrotec, Ingliss', Black Sheep and the Niner booth.

Biggest letdown:
Ibis (ibisbicycles.com), I was excited to see the latest Ibis since they came back from the dead but, they let me down by only doing Carbon bikes. Ibis was and will always be steel in my mind.

Best looking exhibitor:
Angela Sucich (http://www.voodoocycles.net/angela.htm), Congrat's to Voodoo for bringing Angela. I would have spent the entire two days at their booth but, I didn't want to be one of "those" guys (stalker...).

Nicest Hotel:
Wynn (www.wynnlasvegas.com), Let's see is it the Ferrari dealership in the casino? Is it the Corsa Cucina with Ferrari red leather seating?

Best meal in Vegas:
SW Steakhouse(www.wynnlasvegas.com), I felt a little out of place with my "Brass Nipples" T-shirt but, the waiter didn't have an issue, so no worries. When Stubby asked for the wine list little did he know it was 55 pages long. He ended up asking the Sommelier which would be best for our food and under $1000. Stubby ordered a 2001 La Vieux Chateauneuf du Pape. My Salmon was quite possibly the best ever. Potato puree topped with the salmon fillet crusted in blue corn batter, topped with BBQ sauce with onion rings on top. Spectacular!

Best Swag:
SockGuy (www.sockguy.com), We got some Interbike special socks from Todd. I got some tallboy "Guns and Roses" black socks, Tallboy "Manum Condoms" socks, "Got MILF?" socks and last but not least "Pabst Blue Ribbon" socks. Stubby picked the Mister potato head socks that say "You say Potato, I say Fuck You..." on the bottom. He also snagged some "Slut" socks.

Most pathetic signature:
LIN (www.linmfg.com), They had a couple guys from the US road racing team "Subway". There wasn't anybody in line. Unfortunately we were walking past when the LIN rep pulled us over and made us get their signature. Stubby asked if he got a free sandwich for the siganture, no but you geta free pair of crappy socks! I then remebered passing these jerkoff's on my Javaboy while riding in O'side. They remembered my wood fenders!

Nicest carbon frame:
Tie; BMC (www.bmc-racing.com) and Parlee (www.parleecycles.com), Parlee had some very lightweight frames this year including an 11 pound climbing bike that Tyler "Drugee" Hamilton used at Mt. Washington. BMC's bikes are very unique looking plus pretty light. Their TT frame used a wierd linkage instead of a standard headset.

Most strungout chick:
Felt Bicycles (www.http://tinyurl.com/8jy5d), Whether she was jumping around or freaking out, she was definitely on something (e, H, LSD...).

Coolest Doodad:
Niner YAWYD (http://tinyurl.com/956yp), A replacement headset top cap that allows you to pop a beer cap onto it.

More soon!

Got to get back to work....
